There's certainly replay value here, as you can play though each character's individual story - no doubt fans of the series will do just that. Yeah, some of the boss fights we encountered were really interesting to fight and quite a challenge, but also just looked amazing.

Graphics for this game on the PSP are really on par with what you'd have had on the PS2 for example. It's worth the wait, though, because the game looks really beautiful. The action is very broken up and it part of why these games feel so long is you spend a lot of time sitting through slow cut-scenes and then more loading. I installed the game but even still - often you spend 60 seconds waiting for something to load, only to run five steps, then wait for the game to load again. It's really rewarding, though - so you'll want to take the time to do it. It's a lot to keep track of, and sometimes you'll find yourself spending ages just sitting in menues shifting things around and trying to get the best combinations.

Plus - you land a new keyblade equipped with different features after pretty much every world you visited, so I was constantly able to try out some cool new effect. I could draw upon the skillset of other characters in the game like, my buddies Ven or Terra - or even Cinderella or Mickey Mouse. and this was probably my favourite feature. This is a kind of 'summoning' feature which allows you to call on another character's power from another realm. Sometimes you'll team up with other characters to take down a baddie also.ДЇinally, there's the D- Link or 'Dimension Link'. Each character has certain Finishers that only they can perform, the style of your combat really becomes quite individual to the player which, I really liked. You also have 'Finishers' - which you can perform when your 'command gauge' fills up after landing successful hits on your opponent. I love all those flourishes and the character's voice work when fighting. It's easy to get the hang of and keeps combat interesting - and looks great. Circle to jump, X to attack, and Square performs a block or a dodge.

You cycle through these commands on the d-pad and hit triangle to execute them.

You equip special attacks called 'Deck Commands' that you pick up and create throughout the game. I have to say though, Baj - I had a great time fighting them, though, because the combat in this game is absolutely beautiful. they look similar, pop up in the same little groups in the same expected areas - but plot-wise: they seem to be creatures that have grown from 'negative emotions'. I struggled to really find a difference between the 'Unversed' and the 'Heartless'. Similar to other Kingdom Hearts games, you'll be travelling between various Disney worlds - starting with some of the older films like Cinderella and Snow White, taking out various baddies - which in this game are called the 'Unversed'. Then you'll be asked to choose which character's story you'd like to play through for the duration of the game. You're able to have a go at sparring as each character - Terra, Ventus, or Aqua - which allows you to get a feel for each combat style. In Birth by Sleep you begin in the Land of Departure, where a trio of Keyblade-weilding friends are training to become Keyblade Masters.

look, let's just talk about the gameplay. Well, Roxas is Sora's 'nobody' - and since this is a prequel, and Ventus comes first, we assume that it's HIS appearance that Sora - slash - Roxas take on in the later games. So Ventus looks like Sora who has the body of Roxas. But if the person's will is strong enough, they'll retain their appearance. It's basically an indication early on that Ventus will later become Sora - because in the Kingdom Hearts universe, a 'nobody' is kind of the 'shell' that's leftover when a person has been consumed by darkness. which is where it starts to get confusing. Birth by Sleep takes place ten years before the original Kingdom Hearts game, and opens on Ventus - or 'Ven' for short. There is certainly the familiarity of all the Disney worlds and characters, but the greater story arc requires some research if haven't been keeping up since the beginning. It takes a while to get your head around some of the story aspects of these games. Plus, Birth by Sleep is a prequel, so I figured it might be easier to put it all together - but I still had to fair bit of reading, Bajo. Now, the last time we reviewed a Kingdom Hearts game - 358 Days / 2, we jumped in as Kingdom Hearts noobs, so this time we had a little bit more background knowledge of the characters and the universe. The Final Fantasy and Disney worlds collide again with the latest Kingdom Hearts game and the sixth game in the series, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep - and this time, it's for the PSP.
